The ALS Association Greater Los Angeles Chapter

Part of a network of 40 chapters, the Greater Los Angeles Chapter of The ALS Association (ALSA-GLAC) offers a variety of support services to help persons living with ALS (PALS) and their caregivers. All services are provided free of charge.

Our accomplishments are made possible by the generosity of others. From the smallest donation to the largest gift, donors touch the ALS community with hope for the future. This terrible disease knows no racial, ethnic or socioeconomic boundaries. It can strike anyone at any time.

The mission of The ALS Association, Greater Los Angeles Chapter is to provide significant and meaningful assistance in the lives of all persons with ALS, their families, caregivers and health professionals in Los Angeles and its surrounding counties; and to support research for a cure.

The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of The ALS Association is the central source for services and education for PALS, their families, caregivers, and health care professionals in Los Angeles, Inyo, Kern, Riverside, Santa Barbara, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties.

The size of the area we serve—at no cost to recipients--is staggering. Our services include educational symposia (e.g., “Ask the Experts”); monthly support groups; case management services to assist in navigating health insurance systems and community support services; in-home visits by health professionals to assess daily living needs; access to a loan pool of durable medical equipment to allow PALS to remain in their homes; and a loan pool of augmentative communication devices. A quarterly newsletter, The Messenger, provides news of research and managing life with ALS to some 20,000 recipients.

The ALS Association Greater Los Angeles Chapter is waging the war against this killer 24/7. Every 90 minutes, an American dies of ALS. Time isn't on the side of those afflicted. Fighting ALS is a full-time job.

The Greater Los Angeles Chapter of The ALS Association is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees.
